I've just recently learned about prolotherapy, and am considering it. But I can't afford it unless my insurance pays for most of it. I've read some about patients recieving prolotherapy through their pain management clinic. One doctor of mine wanted me to try a pain management clinic, but I declined, thinking they would teach me breathing techniques or something else equally worthless (well, almost worthless).
Did you recieve your prolo through a pain mangement clinic? If that's possible, my insurance might cover it, and I might be able to get my life back. I appreciate your response!

Yes, I did receive prolo through a pain management clinic, but only after he went through the more orthodox treatments (SI, facet injections, etc.). He considered it a last-resort and gives only six sessions. He does not charge separately for the injections but just includes them in my office visits (I have a $10 office copay).

My experience with pain management is that they are willing to prescribe pain medication without treating you like your faking it. My doctor is an osteopath pain management specialist. He did prolo. getprolo.com has a list of prolo docs accross the US. Unless they are willing to call it something else, prolo is not covered by most insurance companies.

Michelle,
I had great success with prolo, but insurance wouldn't cover it.
