I suffered for years with costochondritis which essentially is hypermobile ribs. They would pop in and out of the sternum area, irritating the costral nerves. The pain mimiced a heart attack and put me in the ER maybe 5 times. I was told that there was absolutely nothing wrong and sent home. It wasn't until I tried an "alternative" doctor and he suggested prolo. I did the research, read Hauser's books and Faber's too.

I found a doctor in Lakeland, FL that does prolo and strated making the 90 minute drive to see him. It is not for the squemish.... having 20 plus injections into your intercostal joints HURTS.... and you can't help but see it happening so it is a bit freaky. Anyways, I would see progress for a few weeks then revert back to the pain... but always a little less. It took 8 treatments, but I am now 95% better. I get twinges when I am working in the yard or playing golf, but it is manageable and goes away. I will probably go back every year or so for a "booster", at least as long as I keep getting the twinges.

It truely has turned my life around. I was miserable for 7 years, constantly afraid that I was going to keel over and die from a heart attack. I gave up most physical activites... never could play golf or really lift anything without excruciating pain in the center of my chest. BTW, my doctor used dextrose and it worked fine for me. It might have taken a few extra visits, but thats ok, I didn't have terrible pain or swelling afterward.

Oh, my doc charged like 200$ for the initial session and then only $75 for each one after that.

I am very pleased!!!!

Congrats to you! I went through a period where my ribs would sublux in sternum also. Couldn't get anyone to believe me though. They still sublux from my back a few times a year. It hurts to breathe. I just found out my Dr's insurance has refused to cover him if he continues doing prolo. So he can no longer do that service. I finally find an almost cure and the state of ignorant Alabama takes it away from me. Can you believe it?

Tracey, I found a doctor in Atlanta that does prolo. That may be too far for you, and from what I could gather, he isn't cheap. But it is an alternative.

Thanks Lincoln! I actually moved to where I am now from Atlanta. So I have friends there. How much is he and what part of town? I am pretty good for now but my concern is as I age and my other body parts need some strenghtening. Know of any in north FL? I am on the coast. There is a possible dr in Gulfport, MS. Take care!

Tracey,

Here is the contact info and his website, it lists costs. I have no experience with him, so this isn't a recommendation, just info I found doing research.
