Hi All,
I just got back from my first session with Dr. Faber. I am sore but I am told that is to be expected. I still have questions on the number of treatments necessary to see results. I realize that everyone is different and we all heal differently, but I read information on other sites where individuals only need 4-6 sessions to be cured. Dr Faber told me I will know if it is working in 6-12 (leaning more toward 12). Why the big difference? He told me that the total number of treatments could be around 25-30. I asked Dr Faber this and he said he would rather guess high rather than to low and disapoint people. Does anyone have real life experience on the number of treatments they required? Don't get me wrong, if it is helping I'll go as many as it takes but I'd like a ballkpark figure to go on.
thanks!!

Sam,
The difference is the EDS diagnosis. When A regular person is injured, and does not heal well, prolotherapy will help them reach their normal ligament strength or greater. With patients with EDS, doctors like Dr. Faber recognize that our injuries need to be treated far beyond what our normal ligament strength is, because our normal ligament strength is very weak. The goal of prolotherapy on people with EDS is to help us reach much greater ligament than we had even before our injuries. Another reason why it takes more treatments for us is because our collagen deficiency allows our bodies to send minimal collagen tissue for each injury or injections, thus we heal less completely from the injections and subsequently require a greater amount of treatments. I have heard that Dr. Faber is one of the best in the nation for helping people with EDS. Best of luck to you.

Sam, Ditto to Greg's comments, could not have said it better. I would like to add one thing that can vary the number of prolo sessions required. The ability for you to maintain good posture, recruiting muscles necessary for a stable inner core, and being able to keep those shoulders back and down in a good military stance takes alot of the stress of you body's soft tissue structures. It is the combination of prolotherapy AND exercise that will advance your quality of life.
The important thing to remember about prolotherapy, is that for many, without it, they wouldn't even begin to have a chance at effective exercise. If you haven't all ready done so, if you want your prolotherapy to have the best chance at success, you must seek out an experienced phyical therapist to manage your rehab. Without quality rehabilitation, you are just throwing your money away!
