Seeking highly competent prolotherapist

Hypermobility Forum for people with Marfan, EDS: prolotherapy: Seeking highly competent prolotherapist

Hello everyone
Dr. William Faber has written a book on prolotherapy called Pain Pain Go Away. He says that most patients need between 12 and 30 sessions. Has anyone on the forum received and benefited from his prolotherapy treatments at the Milwaukee Pain Clinic. Also, has anyone seen Dr. William Kubitschek, an osteopath who does prolotherapy in San Marcos, CA. Any recommendations for a competent prolotherapist in the East would be appreciated. Thank-you in advance for the information.

I've heard Dr. Ongley at Ongleyonline.com is one of the best.

Dr. Wheaton (do a websearch)- his website looks encouraging

Dr. Ongley works out of Mexico because he is unable to get a U.S. license. I have been to his clinic. The waiting room is like a herd of cattle, so he definetly has a large following. Also most of his patients are diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. Thank-you for the suggestion.

Ed,

I work for a Prolotherapist in MN, Dr. Mark Wheaton and we met a physician from New York, I believe near Buffalo. His name is Dr. Timothy Speciale. His address/phone is 495 Delaware Street
Tonawanda, NY 14150 716-692-2723 (phone). We met him in Southern Illinois at a volunteer Natural Medicine Clinic organized by Dr. Ross Hauser. We have observed his work & could highly recommend him.

Otherwise, visit the web site www.aaomed.org for a physician listing by state. Keep in mind that not all Prolotherapists are as highly trained/qualified. Make sure you do your homework.

Best wishes,

Brodie,
I talked to Dr. Speciale. He practices the Hacket, Hemwall, Hauser method (midwest method) as opposed to the west coast method of prolotherapy. I believe in the midwest method they do a lot more injections in one session (more scar tissue) and the frequency between sessions is longer. There is more information about this in the links section on your website: http://www.wheatons.com
Thanks for responding, Ed

Ed,

I have benefited immensely from Dr. Faber's treatments. I know they are working because when I let treatments go too long in between (have had to re-schedule a few times due to bad weather) I start to experience problems. I have been getting treatments for about 8 months now, being treated for hypermobility. I do not know what I would have done without these treatments, other than become real dependent on pain killing drugs, and that is not desirable to me.
You have written to me before, but thought I would check in, and let you know what is happening with me. Dr. William Faber cares about his patients, really listens to you, and tries his best to help patients!
I recommend him highly!

Susan,

You said in the previous post that when too much time lapses between appointments, you have to go for a re-up. I also experience "lapses" (VERY frustrating), but have experienced overall improvement (much slower than I would like, but patience isn't one of my virtues). It's my understanding that the new tissue grown via prolo is a supposed to be a "permanent" thing. Do you think we'll have to go forever? I've been going for a year (six times so far), so we're on almost the same schedule.

Let's chat about results.
Eppie

Thanks Ed for that information !

Does any one know of any doctors that practice soley using fish oils , it's impossible to tell from just the list.

Hauser told me he can use it but i don't think he means just by itself I don't really care about the pain I just want something that is going to be effective.

Mr. G

I think all of the prolotherapy solutions contain lidocaine in addition to the "irritant. I'm fairly certain my prolotherapist only uses sodium mohruate (sp?) for my injections. However, they prepare the syringes in the office, so I don't see why you couldn't request a specific formula.

i thought i replied to this ..strange

any way thank you eppie for that feedback , i notice you and Susan both appear to have gone for the more conventional method as opposed to this new Hypoallergenic one he advertises.

How does this treatment work though ? Correct me if I'm wrong butit can't speed up the regeneration process of tissue, can it ?

So what difference does it make if you get more injections before the allocated 6 weekd it takes for tissues to reform ?

thanks

mr g

Mr. G,

I see my prolotherapist again in two weeks and I'll ask him about this hypoallergenic method. I'd have to say that from my point of view, the only advantage to having additional shots within a short timeframe is to start forming additional tissue. This is definitely beneficial, but to me it's a cost-benefit analysis...prolotherapy is not cheap! Good Luck!

p.s. I see Dr. Wheaton (his nurse posted earlier here).
