Read something about connective tissue. The way I read it (could be wrong). It has matrix molecules which hold on to water. There are two kinds of oedema. One, when you are pregnant etc. where the molecules hold on to too much water and you swell all over. One where the molecules don't hold on to enough water and gravity gets a grip on the water and you get swollen feet and hands. My connective tissue seems to be in favour of the second way of dealing with water. Could it have to do with my hypermobility also? Who has a more scientific medical background than I have?

Ann, in the topic Symptoms/Skin I posted a message yesterday with quite the same question.
Apparently, at least one person recognizes this. To me it seems to be connected to eds. I will try to find out if this is true. I'll come back on this!

It has been a while since people posted on this topic, but I might give it a try anyway. I have pretty severe oedema in both my lower legs. The water usually collects just above my shoes (actually they are boots), but when I go a day without wearing my shoes my feet swell so much that I don't even have to think about putting my shoes on the next day either. I wear elastic stockings up to mu knees, but they don't do much, plus I don't really want to wear the when I got infected wounds on my legs or toes. It started when I was 16 and I didn't think much of it at the time but now I am 21 and my legs are still swelling, it seems like what used to feel like a big bag of pudding is now hardening, when I get little wounds on my legs they never heal, I've got two that have been there for over a year now. I am worried... Anyone has some thoughts on this?
