Is prolotherapy an effective treatement for people with Marfans? It is supposed to trigger regrowth of the ligaments and tendons of joints.

Darrell Stoddard in his book, Pain Free For Life, reviews prolotherapy. He says it consists of injecting small amounts of local anesthetics and sugar water into trigger points associated with pain. The injected dextrose acts as an irritant which causes inflammation which the body theoretically heals, along with whatever was causing the pain in the first place.

Problem is local anesthetics when injected into the body are converted to an aniline that is a known carcinogen. Injecting 1cc of 2% lidocaine results in the same aniline dose as smoking 94,000 unfiltered cigarettes. The FDA now requires a cancer warning in the package inserts of new pharmaceuticals containing aniline-based local anesthetic.

Stoddard uses instead a medical tape which is able to conduct electricity, to reconnect the body's electrical circuits, or Chi, thus eliminating pain. His website is healpain.net
