I have osteoarthritis in both knees. I am 27, and active. I like to walk, cycle, and participate in basketball. Any suggestions for relief of pain and swelling? Thanks!!

Have you tried any knee braces to keep the joint better aligned during use?

There are some decent neoprene knee sleeves with a little extra stabilization around the knee cap that don't inhibit motion. They are at most drug stores for about $10-15 each.

I've heard ice is good to use on the joints after a workout.

I have been recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees. I have been to the therapist, I have started all my extras.. Glucosamine sulfate and Chondroiten sulfate.. walking on the treadmill, etc.. my question now is.. if I don't do any of these things and let it go or quit doing any of the above... how bad can this get and how fast. No one will tell me. I am 50 and very active or rather was very active. I really would appreciate an answer. Thank you.

I`ve just be diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both elbows, probably as a result of intense high level rock climbing in my teens,Now 29 i`m totaly depressed that this may put an end to all future sporting activities.Has anyone else had similar problems and has managed to continue sport even if it be at a much lower intensity?.Also i have started taking glucosamine/chondrotin supplement, but am concerned at the hugely variable prices and their dosages, can anyone recomend a reputable maker at sane prices?.Any further info on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

I have HMS (diagnosed 23 years ago) and was diagnosed with secondary osteoarthritis in my shoulder (AC Joint) about six years ago. It has been getting progressively worse since then despite anti-inflammatories and several cortisone shots in the joint. I now have a lot of pain and limited range of movement.

I have an appointment with my doctor next week and so have been trying to find out what my options are. Everything I read seems to suggest that the best solution is surgery to removal the last 1/2 inch of the collarbone - effectively reconstucting the joint.

My question is - has anyone else had this problem or had this surgery and if so what were your experiences..

Hello
I am a swedish woman, age 25, who got the diagnosis HMS one week ago. I have had cronic pain since august but have had shorter periods of pain during the last 6 years.

I've been searching the web for information about HMS and I seem to get different information about the prognosis on every site... What about osteoartritis, the balance etc...

Please help me with some more information about this syndrome...
