I have not filed on this issue but on a different disability. I have heard almost always in adlt cases that on the first time they don't pass it through. They did this on my case. One the second time you apply they are much more likely to pass it through. I did this and they back dated my SSI to the time of my first application. However, they will only pay back a certain amount of time. The sooner you do your second application the better. I have two children with developemental disabilities and they passed it the first time through. It usually takes about three monthes. I hope this helps.

Dear Shannon,
Is your attorney one who specializes in social security cases? If not, go get one. They know all the ropes & can help a great deal. I have EDS (just waiting to see doctor for official diagnosis) & also fibromyalgia. Some people with fibromyalgia are disabled & they've strongly said on the fms message board to see a lawyer specializing in social security disability. Haven't applied myself (yet, anyway), but my husband went through it for a different illness & things went much better with a 'specialist' attorney.
