Most babies are hypermobile when compared to adults or older children, mostly because their bones are mainly cartilage without the calcium being laid down to harden them. A "floppy baby" is exactly that. It has poor muscle tone, unable to hold up head for any length of time, slow walker, weak grip. It can be caused by any number of conditions, often neurological ones. If you suspect your daughter is a floppy baby do get her checked out by your doctor or public health nurse. There are standard milestones that children are expected to reach at certain ages. At six months your daughter should be able to sit if supported, hold her head up and be able to propel herself around with her arms if on her tummy . She should also be able to roll over. If she can do all these things (or most of them) then she is probably developing normally.
