Does HMS provide any advantages?
Just kidding! It got your attention though
didn't it?
Please consider this a belated April Fool's Joke.
Those of us who are major sufferers could always use some humor
in our lives, right?

Good Joke, but I think the relationship between ones sex life and having a hypermobility condition is something people are reluctant to talk about. Without going into too many details, my husband and I have certainly had to modify our position as missionary was putting too much pressure on my hips. Yes, we did find a comfortable position in the end. If anyone genuinely wants to know, they can email me.

Hey! That is a real problem. I'm still waiting for my hips to heal from Tendonitis before I even consider it. Just the thought of it makes me cringe with my level of pain.

Sara, I can't resist it! Do you tell the blokes you fancy to "Go and get knotted"?

They're so stunned by my suppleness, they never look at the mantle piece (face), which can have it's blessings!! Gotta laugh else we'd cry!!

When you are young (and foolish) hypermobility can appear to be a sexual advantage in terms of positions that the opposite sex may find interesting and unusual. Unfortunately, taking advantage of the range of motion can cause serious, long-term joint damage.
Eventually, as we age the joints are more prone to instability and even basic sexual positions can cause pain and even joint dislocations. For someone with hypermobility to have a long-term sexual relationship, they must have a partner who is willing to work around the joint problems and be sympathetic to his/her needs. Often pillows and supports can be used to support/protect the joints during intercourse so as not to sublux/dislocate a joint (which can really kill the mood.)

Thank you for your input. I keep trying to find a way to express this to my spouse, without killing the mood. I have found that unfortunately the only thing I like is "quick" before the pain wins. I look forward to showing him this site so he doesn't feel alone either.

Since I dislocated my left hip in 1996, I can't lie on my left side any more, and certainly not for rhythmic movement. So I lie on my right side and he lies behind me. That's the only position we can accomplish. To liven things up I tell jokes.

My physical therapist gave me a handout on positions that would work best for my SI joint. If you are not satisfied with the positions that you are currently using and are going to a PT I would suggest asking them for some information on that subject.
