Hi:

I was diagnosed with scoliosis yesterday. I have EDS type III and have had continuous problems with my sacr-iliac joint, which finally jammed and caused my pelvis to twist. This has resulted in my spine twisting, unbelievably painful spasms down the right side of my body, for which I have been treated with various (you name it I've had it!) drugs and a full back brace. Has anyone experienced this scenario (the scoliosis with the sacro-iliac joint problem), and, if so, has anything worked for you? Please help, this seems to be going from bad to worse. Many, many thanks to you all - Lucy

i THINK WE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, I WAS IN A BOSTON BACK BRACE FOR 5 YEARS TO TRY AND STOP MY SCOLIOSIS FROM GETTING WORSE, IT SORT OF WORKED. I ALSO KNEW I HAD JOINT HYPERMOBILITY, MY SON HAS EDS, AND A FEW WEEKS AGO THE SPECIALIST SAID I HAD JOINT HYPERMOBILITY SYDROME OR EDS TYPE 3!
MY BACK GETS VERY PAINFUL, AND SUBLAXES 3/4 TIMES A DAY, T6 AND SACRO-ILIAC, I SEE A CHIROPRACTER EVERY FEW WEEKS WHO PUTS BACK MY BACK, IT HAS REALLY HELPED. ALSO I ATTEND PILATES CLASSES, AND HAVE LEARNT HOW TO PUT MOST OF MY BACK INTO ALIAGMENT BY MYSELF, SO THE CHIROPRACTER JUST HELPS OUT WHEN I CAN NOT ADJUST IT MY SELF.

Chiroprators are the way to be!! Also, when my back was really bad, I got some kind of local charity to donate (loan) me a hospital bed. It really helped me not to lie toally flat and to be able to manipulate the angel of my legs and back:)
