I have EDS I mostly just dislocate joins but now it seem I have Dislocated a Tendon in my ankle. My Dr. said she has never seen any thing like it before. I had a MRI to see it. It's not going back into place as it's been disloacted for a year or more. I have a appiontment to see a Othopedic Surgon on Jan. 31 2001. Which doesn't help me now. Has anyone else had this or something like this? I could use some help.

I don't know wether this is a bit like the same thing. But sometimes my Achilles tendon is like it would hang itsself up on the bone backwards my foot. I have to loosen it very carefully with a screwing movement otherwise it scrutches over the bone and hurts me very much. I told this once my GP. He only said that the Achilles tendon is too long.
I wish, you will find a good help.

I have had a similar problem in one knee where I
can feel the tendon cross over my patella and get
stuck on the wrong side. It's always gone back
with a little self-manipulation very quickly
though. I am unable to move my leg at all until I
get the thing back in place. It's miserable.
Good luck- I hope you find some relief.

I also have the feeling of the tendons/ligaments on top of my kneecaps of slipping over my kneecap and i have to manipulate them until they go back as I can't use my leg properly until then (this happens in both knee but thankfully most of the time not at the same time otherwise I look a bit like a scarecrow until I can find someplace to sit etc to wiggle them back.
I just thought that this was part of chrondomalacia patella but I guess maybe it's not.

We have EDS in my family. My mom and I were both born with subluxing tendons in our ankles. Doctors have told me that I do not have the ligaments to hold the tendon down, although I have not had an MRI to verify that. My right ankle has always been worse than the left until this last summer when I suffered an injury in the tendon at the left ankle. Now it goes out frequently just from normal walking, and I have to manually slide it back into place with my fingers. Although it is not painful, it is uncomfortable. I have been wearing construction boots exclusively since then because the tight lacing over and above the ankle helps hold the tendon in place better. The doctors and I have ruled out surgery in this case because the risks outweigh the potential benefits (since there is no pain, and only mild discomfort when it goes out).
