Sometimes when I wake up in the morning my neck really hurts and the back of my head feels numb, like the circulation is cut off.
This morning i woke up with this sensation and I was breathing real hard and all out of breath.
I spoke to a neurologist and he said it was probably a pinched nerve (a**hole)
Should I get prolo on my neck? I think it is loose. Is prolo on the neck dangerous? Im affraid that the imflammation will make the circulation problem worse.

Im going for another MRI friday, the first was just of the blood vessels, that according the him didnt show anything.

All i can say about your neck is - I hear you loud and clear. My HMS husband has been plagued with neck problems for years. He seems to get some relief from
chiropractic, but it's short-lived. There is one prolotherapist here in town, and we are hoping he can get some prolo in his neck this summer; it is definitely his worst
area. He feels exactly like you do about getting "needled" in the neck numerous times, very apprehensive, knowing how sensitive that area is for him.
I had to laugh at your little nick-name for the neurologist, we feel the same way about most doctors after what he has been through with them. aaarrrgh.

All this time I had a cheap mold foam pillow (the one adverstised on TV)
but I had been sleeping with it upside down.
I had pain with before, but this REALLY f'ed up my neck, to the point where it was completely cutting of circulation to the back of my brain where I would wake up
hyperventaling. Genuis me, turned the pillow upside down, and no neck pain when I woke up.
Any way, i found a site for real cheap visco elastic pillow (memory foam, what tempedic (brand name) really is). Dont know if there as good, but there like a third of
the price, aparently there are big differences between qualities of memory foam pillows (density being the main thing)
the site is :

So I guess I was lucky the stored closed early.

(luckily I think the damage was only limited to the brainstem and cerebellum, and not very serevere at all :)

Eric, invest in a buckwheat husk pillow. My neck hasn't been so good for years. Before I got mine I was having constant physio and massage but have only been to
the physio once since I got it over a year ago. It is supportive without being hard and moulds to accommodate your shape. I have bought all my family one each and
reccommended them to numerous friends all of whom now wonder how they ever did without them. They are available from mail order stores but also, very much
cheaper, from department stores. In years of suffering with back and neck problemsa I have never found anything else as near as effective.

I have a buck wheat pillow and although it did work to begin with I now find that I have more pain in my neck and into my shoulder. I sleep with my right arm under
the pillow. Any ideas on where to put my arm??! (Wardrobe is full!!!!!)

I was also getting alot of pain, before I was diagnosed and still now. At first I thought that I had a brain tuma as the head aches could last three weeks. I have no
faith left in doctors because all the ones I have viisted know less then I do so I have started alternitive I have found Yumeiho has helped me. The person that I go to
is great he does not charge for the first sessions to see if he can help the individual. its worth a try.

I'm also new to this site, I am so relived (sorry if that sounds inapproipriate) to find other sufferers of Hypermobility. I have had a bad neck / back for a number of years, and have tried the usual remedies...Oesteopath, acupuncture, massage etc. But they only seem to provide a quick fix. Not sure how bad mine is compared to everyone out there, but I sometimes get my neck stuck in between joints, and can't move it ! I have taken to sleeping on the wooden floor, with my legs slightly raised to keep my back flat against the floorboards. This is ok if it's warm, but I'm stuck if it gets cold through the night.
My Father has had a slipped disc, my Brother has also had a slipped disc..and my sister has oesteoarthritis.
Are there any treatments out there that can relive the pain, as winter approaches, I don't want another Christmas stuck at home.

Kind regards,

Patrick.

Patrick, I have used a buckwheat husk pillow for a couple of years now and my neck problems have decreased magically. They look and feel like oversized wheatbags and are wonderfully supportive without being hard. I wouldn't be without mine and take it with me if I go away overnight. I got mine from a local department store but imagine they would also be available from bedding retailers. I found it took a couple of days to get used to it as it tends to rustle, but after that...............ah bliss!

Thanks for the help Gwen,

I know what's going on my Christmas list :)

I had one of those pathetic latex 'Neck pillows'
which quickly found it's way to the bin !
