Hi,
I've been experiencing ear and throat problems recently. I get a clicking sound in my right ear and saw an ENT doctor who diagnosed me with Palatal Myoclonus. She explained that my palate is having spasms and this is creating the clicking sound in my ear.
As for the throat problems, I feel I have mucus build up behind my throat but can't spit it out or do anything with it; and it's not due to a cold either.
Has anyone else been diagnosed with Palatal Myoclonus or had clicking in their ears?
Any input would be appreciated, I feel strongly this is due to HMS/EDS.

Silva,
Hi i suffer from Tinnitus or ring in both my ears and also get what I call throat spasms, feels a bit like what you describe. I tend to gently massage my throat to try to get rid of the feeling. I also have perfurated my ear drums a few times and have resulting hearing loss from this.
Hope this helps

hi hi......
all those symtpoms u have are caused by TMJ (temperomandibular joint syndrome", very common, caused by night teeth grinding....and throat/speech problems may be linked to EDS...try to massage and exercise each area as much as possible

Know this is an old thread, but after suffering the throat problem described thouht I would pass on what I learnt and believe me it shocked me,but its cured now
Taken from Prof Birds book "The management of Ehler Danlos"
Some people report a "lump" in their throat as they swallow. This could be a sign that the larynx has slightly moved out of line at the top of the windpipe. Gently take the larynx between your thumb and forefinger and move slightly from side to side (Bout a milimetre should be ok)
If you feel that food or liquid frequently goes down the wrong way or thatyou have reccurent chest infections you should discuss this with your doctor.
Like I said its strange, but happened to me a few days ago. I had felt like I had a lump in my throat for about two weeks and was finding it hard to swallow food and it was becoming awkward to breath properely. I was just about to arrange to see my GP when I happened to read this in Prof Birds book. By the way very informative book. Usually can be bought at amazon.co.uk (.Com for US) its about £7.45 with delivery costs.
