About the skin: does it happen to any of you that if you push your finger onto the skin of a shin, a sort of ugly hole is made (that doesn't leave quickly)? I always have sockmarks on my ankles. These "holes" can be made on skin where there is a bone underneath - so, not on the abdomen for example. (Which by the way is sort of swollen in my case, I am quite skinny so it does show quickly, but sometimes I feel like I look like 5 ms pregnant). I also have swollen eyes in the morning and sheet marks on my face. Could all this skin stuff have anything to do with eds? Or am I just mistaken and just retaining too much water (or something)?

I know just what you mean! I have to sleep really carefully, getting my pillow completely flat otherwise I still have creases on my face at lunchtime, very embarrassing! I have the same thing with cosks too, although I've found a way round this, I wear trainer socks.they don't grip so tight and its further down your foot if they do mark, so at least its not so obvious when you wear a skirt later.
I do have softer, more velvety skin than "normal" so I guess thats connected.
Anyone have a more scientific answer??

Elène, what you describe seems me to be Edemas and not surely a part of EDS.
Do you have this since childhood or did you get this slowely during the last weeks or months? If you had it always mabe it is a problem of EDS. If you got this during the last months or weeks, please go to the doctor and make a check-up, because Edemas as you describe them may be something else that has to be treated like a kidney, a heart or a lymphatic problem.

Another skin question.
On my legs (yes. I was thinking a minute but indeed only on my legs) I find strange spots. They are not so big (except one on the right foot)and they are lying on the skin, a little bit higher than the surrounding skin, round and flat. They feel and look rough and from time to time a layer can be peeled off, which can but doesn't always bleed (but if it bleeds it bleeds alot). They do not seem to grow or multiply anymore, I got them like 15 years ago one short after another. With time they seem to become purplish but I think that is because layers come off, and this only happens to the bigger ones. The others are skincolor or a bit white-ish. Yes I have shown them to a dermatologist in a grey past when I wasn't too assertive yet, and he didn't seem to think a lot of them. They didn't worry him, that is for sure. Now, what is this again? Any of you having these notbeautiful things? I thought I read something like this on a site about eds but I don't seem to be able to relocate this site...

Try looking up http://www.ednf.org which is the American Ehlers-Danlos association. If this isn't the site where you read about the skin condition it has a links to other EDS sites.
As Bianca says, what you are describing actually sounds more like oedema, which is fluid collecting in areas of the body. This will cause the 'holes' when you press on the area (called pitting oedema) because you are, in effect, squeezing the fluid out of that area.
I would advise you to see another doctor as it could well be symptomatic of kidney, lymphatic or circulatory problems.

Elene, I just had a thought. I remember reading about a condition called Orthostatic Intolerance which is connected with EDS. It causes pooling of fluid in the extremities of the body which would resemble oedema. Try running a search and see what you find.

Gwen, did you read what I posted about oedema? What is your view? My oedema is of the non pitting kind by the way.
