Last night I thought I was going to choke. I started to retch so bad that now my face is covered with little snapped vains(I don't think it is the right English expression but you get the idea) especially around my eyes. I never had trouble breathing before. This week I started taking (a lot of) Naproxen. Could this be the cause?

Hi joanna
I think you should stop taking the naproxen and go to your doctor it sounds to me like you are suffering one of the side effects of it.
I think Naproxen contains aspirin which can cause problems for asthmatics so maybe you are sensitive to it as well.Have you ever taken ibuprofen that contains aspirin too.

Go to my docter, well, with a little luck he will have time to see me before october...
Ibuprofen didn't cause trouble, (I didn't take it very long and I didn't take much because it didn't help anyway)
Someone told me the difference could be that Naproxen contains acetylsalicylacid whereas other painkillers contain plain salicylacid, anyone knows if that's true?

Johanna, probably too late now but I am also asthmatic; the trick is if you take something that you react to; first concentrate on breathing out more than you breathe in, once you can get up to six counts out for every four in then start to take tiny sips of water in between, gradually drinking as much as possible to flush your system through but make your breathing the priority. If you don't breathe out enough then there is too much nitrogen in your system, and you cannot absorb what little oxygen you are getting, you have to break the vicious circle. Hope this helps.
I have been on Voltarol ( Diclofenc Sodium) in the past and it gave me vertigo; extreme dizzyness and nausia really quickly, as well as messing up my stomach. I am now on Vioxx and have no problems but ever since the Voltarol I have had problems with my stomach; not IBS, but still when I gotta go I gotta go!; has any one got any tips on sorting it out?

Ibuprofen does not contain ASA(acetylsalycylic acid)..aka aspirin, nor salicylic acid, which is the compound combined with acetic anhydride to make ASA

Ultram/Tramadol/Tramal causes me respiratory troubles aswell. It somehow prevents me from coughing well enough to completely clear my airways. Usually not much of a problem, but as soon as one catches a cold... well you can imagine.
