I am an at home mom so I don't get dressed up often. I always seem to feel better when I put my dress cloths on. The other day I was really busy and after being dressed up for an early morning meeting I quicly pulled off my suit and changed into jeans and a sweat shirt. In my rush I left my stocking on. I hardly hurt at all that day, until I had taken the support hose off. The next day I tried it again and it worked. It does not take all the pain away but seems to hold things together alittle.

Support hose is also good for easing pain from varicose veins and circulatory problems.

I'm al little late in posting on this, but I wore prescription stockings on one leg for my veins and found that after several years I got absolutely awful tendonitis. The doctor concluded that my muscles had so atrophied from the stocking that the tendon had to take over the work. It took wearing backless clogs with an elevated heel for over a year. I lived on my tens and PT during that time. I will never wear one again!

Hi Pat,
What was the cause of you having to wear the prescription stockings? I have been having oedema in both my legs since I was 15 yrs old (21 now) but I don't know the cause of it, and that worries me. Were your problems EDS/HMS-related?
I'll be carefull with my stockings! Thanx.

hi, margareth. i have the privilege of being the one in 100,000 who get blood clots from birth control pills - and i only took them for two weeks! it was only after about 7 years that the clot finally dissolved completely and i started wearing the stockings at that point.
oedema in both legs doesn't sound good. what does your doctor say? i would think some of us could have a little swelling from blood vessels being elastic, but i've not seen anything in writing about it. however, it can mean kidney problems among others. you should ask the doc about it.
i have concluded that i wear my stockings when i am speaking or traveling and don't wear it if i am going to be able to be generally active and alternating positions.
good luck!
