I'm going out today to buy some splints for my wrists and knees. Does anyone know of some good ones.

My wrist splints have a metal "spoon" on top of my hand and beneath it. I tried on a pair with only a spoon beneath my hand but that still allowed me to dislocate a
certain bone in my wrist easily.

There are websites featuring splints and braces.

I found that a $30 "knee immobilizer" (available at medical supply stores) helped to make my knee feel "right" again after dislocating.

A Don Joy "J" knee brace gives a lot of support to the knee cap to keep it in the groove. It works for my right knee, but the left one was too loose and slid under the
supports. (Now just after knee surgery, the "J" sits right where some work was done, so I don't know if I'll use it as added support after healing.)

From what I found, Neoprene is the main component of the "knee sleeves". It's hot. It also is thick enough that the additional supports on the sleeve are way above
your knee cap and do no good whatsoever! Look for ones with the supports UNDER the neoprene (like the Don Joy "J").

Lennox Hill also makes a knee brace that is supposed to be the strongest ever made. It kinda helped pre-op. Does help post-op (the J support is flat and doesn't dig
in).

ACE and some similar brands make neoprene knee braces for about $15 each. They have a double layer of neoprene around a cut-out area for your knee cap.
Some have additional supports on the sides.

If you have a trusted physical therapist, he/she will help you find the right thing for you. Obviously my main problem has been knees (my knee cap sat 1/2" away
from "normal" until surgery & it dislocated even doing minor things around the house).

My husband seems to get relief from wrist braces that have a metal "spoon" under the palm/wrist area. A number of brands exist. Once again a drug store may carry
what you need -- ask a pharmacist for help. Or go to a medical supply store.

Good luck!

I have been taking Oxycontin for my pain and it doesn't seem to work on the pain in my joints and have tried Vicodin and that makes me dizzy. Does anyone know of a painkiller that works on joint pain.
Thanks for any help you might be able to give,
Kimberly

Kimberley, have you tried Paramax? Or even Aspirin (1g four times a day) Alternatively you may want to try a naturopathic remedy. I have had courses of injections of Iscador and Betula (manufactured by Welleda) and each time have been virtually pain free for the best part of a year.
