Does anyone know of a burn treatment for delicate skin? My hotwater bottle broke a few days ago, and my back and forearm got burnt. The forearm is worst, burnt from elbow to wrist all along one side. I'm told I have HMS not EDS, but my skin is still fragile, slow to heal, quick to scar, etc. etc. Does anyone know of anything that might make the burn heal quicker? I'm in the middle of a course of hydrotherapy, I can't go in the water with open wounds, and I'll lose my place in the class if I miss more than 4 weeks. But I really don't know how to get the burn to heal that fast.

I am so sorry to hear of your accident. I don't have experience of burns, but the homeopathic remedy Arnica is good for promoting healing. You should be able to buy it in pharmacies or health shops.

There is also a kind of silica gel (Cica gel, I think) which is supposed to control and improve scars. It is expensive to buy. It is applied under a bandage with quite a lot of pressure. I expect you already have pressure bandages to wear as that is the normal burns treatment. I don't know at what stage in healing you could start to use the gel.

Good luck.

TRY RAW NATURAL HONEY. IT CAN NOT BEE (HA HA) THE HOMOGENEOUS HONEY YOU FIND AT THE GROCERY STORE. THAT IS BOILED DOWN AND LACKS THE HEALING AND ANTIBACTERIAL PROPERITES OF REAL HONEY. MY SON HAD SPILLED A BOWL OF BOILING SOUP ON HIS CHEST. HE HAD BLISTERS ALL OVER. WE WERE ABOUT TO RUSH HIM TO THE ER, UNTILL I REMEMBERED SOME RESEARCH I HAD READ EARLIER THAT DAY. SO I GRABBED THE RAW HONEY WE TAKE FOR ALLERGIES AND COVERED HIM IN IT AND PLACED A CLEAN WHITE T-SHIRT ON HIM. THE PAIN WENT AWAY AND THE NEXT DAY ALL BUT THE WORST OF THE BURNS WERE GONE.

GOOD LUCK

Pure Aloe Vera gel is used in some burns units to promote healing as it lacks serious side effects even when mixed with serious painkillers etc.

Tell us how you get on,

Anita.

i know its a few months since you have had the burns but for you and for any one elses reference in the future- pure lavender is very good on burns, that is how it was first discovered for its healing properties a man had burnt himself in a pan of oil and then stuck his arm straight into a vat of lavender, afterwards he had little or no scarring- sorry for this useless information but it may help. how are the burns now

Honey (medical grade) is also supposed to be good for burns as is Alo Vera. Both of these you can get from chemists or even health food stores. Medical grade Honey can have things like lavender etc in them to, and has GREAT antibacterial etc properties. they use it on really stubborn diabetcic ulsers that don't respond to treatment and they usually respond to this honey (not your honey in the pantry).

I find antiseptic tea tree cream works on most things like this. It can be bought at most health food shops. Quiet good for chapped lips
