I don't know what the chances are that someone in the area will read this, but I'd thought I'd post all the same. I've been seeing an orthopedic who's really great. He's friendly, easy to talk to, really listens... and he'd recently read about hypermobile EDS right before my first visit. He's interested in the disorder, and has taken the time to learn more about it to better help me. I'd already been through lots of splinting and therapy before I found him, so we decided on surgery the first visit. I don't know if he's usually that agressive; other patients of his at my therapy place say he's real good about trying every conservative approach before cutting. I'd reccomend him to anyone, even though I've had some complications following my operation.

The specifics...

For a good rheumatologist, try Dr Chris Codding at the Orthopaedic & Reconstructive Center. She doesn't seem to know about HMS specifically, but concluded my problems were caused by widespread hypermobility. Her treatment ideas are inline with standard HMS treatment, except she pushes anti-inflammatories.
