I am concerned with my treatment for a back problem. I was sent my appointment date to see my consultant (referred back as urgent by pt) and the date is July 2001!!! I cannot wait that long. I have been told to go straight to hospital if I become incontanent....I thought prevention was better than cure!!!?? My MRI scan is in January 2001!!! I just cannot wait that long. The nhs has really let me down . I cannot afford to go private as I am a student. I have seen my GP to see if they could hurry things along but |I feel that things just aren't going to happen. I have had enough. I get put on waiting list after waiting list and I am getting really annoyed!! Has any one got any suggestions or are oyu in the same boat?

Hello Helen,

I had a similar problem when my docter decided she
wanted a MRI from my jaw. The difference is that I
was given a choise: I could wait for more than half a
year to get a MRI in the hospital were I was
treated but I could also get an MRI in another
hospital. In the other hospital I only had to wait
a month or so, well it's always to long but you
know what I mean.

Maybe you can get an MRI in an other hospital too.
I hope so, because I know how terrible it is to
wait and wait while you just need treatment.
Maybe you could remind your GP that if you would
get an accident they would be abble to give you an
MRI scan right away!

Good luck.

Ester.

Look up http://www.bayviewortho.com/real.htm "Cauda equina syndrome in lumbar spine herniation" The voice reproduction isn't very clear but the lecture is well illustrated with slides. Urinary incontinence with back disorders is always a concern, especially if it occurs suddenly.

After years of feeling alone with hypermobility syndrome and not knowing that anyone else actually suffered from it I am now realising I'm not a freak! I had my MRI about a month ago. It took 8 months to get an appointment with a consultant who would order me for one then it took 4 1/2 months for the appointment to come through. I had it done in the Nuffield hospital in Newcastle. Eventhough the results come back in 1 week I am now waiting until June next year to see the consultant again for the results!
For those looking for a hospital try this one it's very good!

regards mandyxxx
merry christmas
