I have my first back injury one year ago,
and I reinjure it several times. My last
injury is at Christmas time. Anyway, my
back is cracking and has muscle spasm all
the time. The spasm and cracking
disappear as I rest and lie on my back.

I always worry if I reinjure myself. Today,
I went to see my doctor, so I have to open
a very heavy door. Afterward, my back
starts cracking and has muscle spasm. I
start to worry if I reinjure myself. But
I have to live by myself, so I have to
do simple thing as opening a door.

Do anyone have similar experience that
would like to share? Please give any
advice!

By the way, I started prolo treatment
last month but no result shows yet.

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

I too have these horrible muscle spasms in my back - all the way down the right side and they dig into my waist and make me feel dreadful. I have a subluxing SI joint amongst a skeleton of other lose joints! I have also had 4 sessions of prolo and have not yet been aware of the benefits.

That said, my doctor told me that I would need 12 sessions before I felt the stabilizing effects of it. The muscle spasms occur as a result of misalignment - sometimes the inflammation of prolo can trigger them off too. After my 4 sessions of prolo, I was in so much pain that my doctor gave me an anti-inflammatory injection to calm things down, and it has worked to a degree ie., the spasm still exists but not as badly. Be patient with the prolo; some people respond right away, and others take longer - it depends on the extent of the injury.

I always took a friend with me to the doctor, this helps with doors etc.

Take care - Lucy

Hi Lucy,

Won't you mind telling me how old you are?
Who is your doctor and what kind of
solution does he use? How often is your
treatment? I had 3 sessions of bi-weekly
treatment already. The first two is with
detrose solution. Since no improvement are
shown, my doctor uses the SM this time. I
see a lot of bruising and swelling this
time. Hope it works.

Take care,

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

I'm 33. I went to see Dr. Radbill in Wellesley, MA - he is wonderful. He initially used a solution of Sarapin, Dextrose and Phenol. He told me that the phenol may have been to strong for me. We are all different after all! I don't think that there's any getting around the fact that prolo is painful. That, after all, is the idea - to be inflammed. I went through a period of thinking that I simply couldn't take it anymore. I'm not 100% sold on the idea of prolo but I want to complete the course so that I can be certain. My only other option is surgery and I'm not crazy about that idea. Bruising and swelling were all par for the course with me too: that's the inflammation doing it's stuff! I use ice packs followed by a hot bath and take my painkillers before I go for treatment. That's the other trick - don't wait until you're in pain to take them because this can often make spasms worse - they kick in as a defense mechanism. If you take the painkiller before the pain gets bad then you're in for a much less bumpy ride. I would be interested to know your thoughts on prolo. I hope this is helpful. Take care - Lucy

Hi Lucy,

I know my problem is ligament laxity, and
the most suitable treatment is prolotherapy.
After reading all information about
prolotherapy, I am 90% believing in this
treatment. However, I heard someone actually
needs 25 sessions to recover. So I am
happy to have more treatments if it can
actually heal my back. I am still very
young, only 26 years old. I want my life
back and hope this treatment can do that.

Surgery is deffiniately not for me. My back
injury involves a few vertebrae, so it is
too risky to do surgery. Also, most of
my doctors said that the ligament I injured
will heal.

Good Luck,

Bonnie
