Knee-bone connected to the shin-bone

Hypermobility Forum for people with Marfan, EDS: SYMPTOMS: Knee-bone connected to the shin-bone

Hi,

My Physio speaks in riddles (and accidently in nusery rhymes). She says the surroundings of my knee hurt because the splint-bone doesn't move. The shin-bone and the splint-bone are supposed to form a sort of fork at your ankle and when you move your foot, a bone in your ankle (thales/tales or something) moves the splint-bone further apart from the shin-bone to make room. When I move my foot, even beyond normal range, nothing seems happen to the splint-bone.
I haven't got a clue how this works, but I know it hurts my knee and lower leg. Could anyone tell me how the whole of this works, how it's connected to the HMS and, most important, how to get the splint-bone moving again? My physio seems to think that everything will work out by itself. After at least 9 years, I don't think so...

Bye!

I can't answer your question in any way, but I would be very interested in whatever you find out. I have classical EDS with some hypermobility. I am experiencing pain in my knees, mostly when using stairs, but I also am having frequent pains in my lower legs (usually when I'm at rest). I'm going to be seeing a rheumatologist for the knee pain, so I plan to ask if the other leg pain could be related. Please let me know what you find out.
