Hello all, I have just been diag. with HMS. I am a pilot in the Navy and these docs just aren't on the ball. I have had EMG's, MRI's, Xrays, cortisone shots and am
preparing for an arthrogram on my hip to rule out a labular(sp) tear. I have been so frustrated by the docs making misdiagnosis and their lack of belief in the pain. I
haven't been able to fly for 5 months because I thought it too dangerous. Any words of wisdom out there, and I would love some more info on prolo, if someone
would explain it a little better or direct me to a site. Thanks so much.

Stacy.. I was just diagnosed this week. I imagine we've been through similar tests and skeptical docs. The military is the worst when it comes to chronic pain. You
really have to do this on the strength of your own convictions and those of your support system.. we'll hang in there together, okay?

Ten years of incresing amouts of pain lead me to seek help. For five years I was told exercise would help my back pain. I've been shuffled from chiropractors,to
Physical therapy and from doctor to doctor. I've had cat scans for chronic headaches and mri's for the back pain. One doctor wanted to fuse two verterbrae another
told me it was tension some counciling would help. Last October I found a prolotherapist. He discovered the ligaments in my hips were incredably lax. The lack of
support in the pelvis was not only causing the pain in my feet, legs and back but also the increadable head aches. I am seeing much progress after 6 treatments, but
have along way togo. They are not fun and sometimes I hurt worse for a few days. THe headaches have decreased and I am far more active. Please find a good
prolotherapist. THey are not all created equal. A good book is Hauser- "Prolo your pain away" Try Amazon.com for a copy

Thanks Gret and Ashleigh for your reply. The docs confirmed today that in two weeks I will have an arthogram. I am not excited but it is one more thing to rule out.
Have either of you done strengthening exercises for shoulder or hip? That is where they are sending me next, to physical therapy. thanks.

HI STACY
I have HMS and all the strengthening exercises that have been most beneficial for me are to do with static weight bearing, for instance in various positions (never
fully extended)hold a strong rubber band tight and as still as you can.just holding your arms out in front or to the side while making sure everything is properly
aligned is good.
Concentrating on keeping your joints in alignment when you work them is a good one simply because you don't have to put a special time aside or go anywhere to
do it.
Hope that helps good luck
Jonathan B
