My prolo hell

Hypermobility Forum for people with Marfan, EDS: prolotherapy: My prolo hell

I'm a 22 y/o male. I was just recently diagnosed with Hypermobility EDS, not to say that I haven't been suffering through it for my entire life. Years ago while I was in early high school my family doctor thought that prolo therapy might help tighten my shoulders and prevent further dislocations. This did absolutely nothing to aid my problems. I would receive a treatment to on shoulder each week. As a result, I could barely move one of my arms for about three days out of every week. And the process of attempting to tighten the shoulder capsules by building scar tissue is likely to be at least a partial cause of amount of pain that I feel now every day in my shoulders and upper back. My advice, please be careful. It might not help as much as you would like.

Justin,

I am sorry to hear of your experience. Mine has been just the opposite. My right shoulder was operated on before I knew about prolo. My left shoulder was saved from surgery by prolotherapy, and has not even come out of a place a little bit in the two years since I have finished. Best wishes

Greg

Greg,
Sorry to keep bothering you. I am still trying to find the right doctor to get me home. I know you said you went to three. There is only one in my immediate area that does not have much experience with necks. It is difficult to travel in this much pain so I tried him had and made a small amount of improvement along with some set backs. The sodium morruate works better for me but it tightens up all of the muscles so much I have to go to physical therapy. Did you ever have muscle tightning? Did it go away with more shots?

My sisters are both physicians and do not believe this works and do not want me to do anymore. I am beginnning to believe strongly that the doctor may determine the success of the treatment. I see a big difference when the doctor spends more time locating the right areas. The shots even feel different. I might try Djuric since that Park guy recommended him, however, it is a 4.5 hour ride. I do not have any kind of support system since my family since they do not believe in this treatment. My sister lives two hours away from Allan Magaziner that Rich went to. I could try him, but I would have to fly. It is difficult when there is no one that near where you live.

Thanks for your continued support and advice.

Hi .I'm so sorry to hear about your problems. I was in an auto accident 3 years ago with lots of soft tissue damage after 11/2 years my MD sent me to Dr. Larry Bader in Columbia Mo. He has turned my life around. Headaches are gone - lower back is stable and I'm back doing things I was unable to do a couple of years ago. He is getting ready to work on my rib heads and I should be in good shape. This man spends lots of time with you really cares about you and will be honest as to how much improvement he can give you and if he can or can't help you. I can't imagine finding any prolotherapy Dr. better and he's worth the travel. He has been doing prolo for many years and is teaching it to MD's. Good luck - Nancy

Nancy,
Could you let me know what solution you used and if you had swelling or discomfort? I did not get any swelling or inflammatin from the dextrose and was wondering if that is why my treatment failed so miserbly.
