I had just completed my second set of injections and was starting to see good results. Then I came down with a cold..... then a sinus infection... and my ENT doctor told me that I had to take prednisone because it was pretty bad.

Well, long story short, the prednisone did take down the swelling in my sinuses.... as well as the good inflammation in the injection sites. Result...... the pain in my joints is worse now than before I started the prolo. Now I have to start all over. Avoid ANY anti-inflammatories after you have had prolo!!!!

Oh..... the injections come about 3 weeks apart. I had the first series and then 3 weeks later the second. A week after that is when the doc put me on the prednisone.

There were 30 individual injections in each series. Alot I know....... but I was having a large area covered.

Do you mind me asking how experinced your doctor is ?

In my opinion I think it's better to try and find the root cause and treat that area .

Something else you might consider to is the fact the injections in different areas could of had the opposite affect .

It might be nothign more than coincidence that you joints got worse after taking the medication .

Did you feel any tightness or strain , like you were being pulled the wrong way ?

Hmmm..... no. The pain is from multiple subluxing ribs at the sternum and below. So there are like 5 ribs involved. He did all five ribs and the sternum. I don't think its all that many. Back in the steroid injection days (ohhhh... I shudder at the memory) they did like 8 of them in the rib cage just to hit all of the spots.

The doc says to have 12 years experience at prolo.

The pain has returned to a manageable level now that I am off the steroids. I go back Monday for another series of injections..... I am hoping these will help.

We will see how it goes. I may change docs just because I want to have my TMJ done as well and this doc says that he wants to only do one area at a time. I want to have both done at the same time since I know this could take months and months.

have you tried taking anything else ( i mean specific supplements ) to aid ?

I took wild yam after my joints were blown out ( and it stabilised them to the point I was almost playing tennis again .

I don't think it was any fluke because ( in my case ) a lot of my probelms seemed to relate to my metabolism so I tried changing my hormone output..

wild yam precusor for DHEA ( mother hormone )
if you haven't tried it , it might be worth a shot.

by the way who is it you are currently seeing any way ?

Can you explain more about the wild yam? Is it a cream you put on the joints?
