Pain after Prolotherapy

Hypermobility Forum for people with Marfan, EDS: prolotherapy: Pain after Prolotherapy

Hi all:

I just had my second round of prolotherapy injections to my neck, back, and shoulders. After the first round, the only pain to linger afterwards was in the shoulder but it went away after a week. Three days after this next round with a different prolotherapist, in addition to the shoulder pain--which is less despite greater cc's (dosage of irritants) and more injections--I am experiencing sharp, radiating pains in the back of my neck, where I had the shots. The pain in similiar to the irritated (pinched) nerve pain I used to experience. That pain, I believe, is associated with my cracking neck and loose ligaments. Does anyone have any idea why I am experiencing this pain after prolotherapy? Is it possible injection s were made to the wrong area?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Although, I have not experienced the type of neck pain you are describing, I can relate to having a doctor making my symptoms worse. As a result, I have become very careful on who I select as a doctor. How come you switched prolotherapists? Tell us more about yourself.

Dear Paul,

I hope you are feeling better. After a few treatments my doctor changed the solution he had been injecting me with. This new one was much more iritating. After the treatment I had a huge amout of nerve pain and the weakness in my legs became much worse. I was hardly able to walk.

Be sure you let your doctor know about your reaction. There may be a good reason for it.

I made mine promise to warn me the next time he did something like that.

Gretchen

Thanks, Gretchen and Ed, for your responses.

Sorry this reply is late.

The pain was pretty bad, but it did eventually go away. I seem to be tightening up in some areas and loosening up in others. Has anyone else experienced that?

I still have a problem with the pinched (irritated) nerve. Furthermore, my neck still cracks, often involuntarily.

But Overall, my experience of prolotherapy has been promising and I do plan to go back to soon.

Thanks and good luck, all.

Paul

P.S. I have seen only one prolotherapist.
