I have been offered physiotherapy again - I want to say only in water - can you do useful exercises for HMS in water?

I have had 3x3months of sessions before, all gave me extra pain and extra mobility!!

From experience, is physio worthwhile? IS there anything that should be avoided - it seems my therapists have not been the experts in the past.

Question I have tried till bluein face to get doctors etc. to answer - I have really badly hyper shoulders and was taught to relieve pain by rolling them (when they thought I just had stress) - Should I do this with HMS? It seems to cause extra pain and massive bad movement.

All answers greatly appreciated.

Clara

I suppose it would really depend on what type of physio you have. I have a wonderful physio who is attached to the rheumatology department, he knows everything there is to know about HMS, if you can try for this type of therapist. you wouldnt go to a optition for toothace would you so why should you be made to see the wrong type of physio? As for the water exercises according to my physio it can strenghen the muscles, but we have to be very very careful of how much we do in water as the water will be supporting your weight and you may not realise you are doing far to much and when you come out of the pool your muscles may be weak from the excess exercise and you could cause injuries. I assume it would make your body feel like jelly and think we wobble enough :)
